The foundations of the International Congress on Accounting and Finance Research (ICAFR) were laid with the conference titled "From Past to Future: Accounting and Accounting Society-Democracy" held under the auspices of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Çaycuma Vocational School in 2013. As a continuation of this conference, the 2nd From Past to Future Accounting Panel themed "Cultural Interactions in Accounting Science and Profession" was organized in 2015. At this panel held at the national level, researches of academics and professionals from various universities in Turkey were discussed. Taking into account the intense demand from panelists and participants during the closing session of the panel, the decision was made to transform this initiative into an international scientific organization. With this decision, the congress has been organized internationally every year. The congresses organized up to the present day are listed below in chronological order:
